Your blog reminds me of another great reason to legalize, tax, and regulate: to better keep weed out of the hands of children.

Legalized weed should be for people over 21, just like drinking. In fact, I think all the "adult" privileges and obligations of our society should be standardized. That means tobacco and Selective Service registration, as well.

If you are REQUIRED to sign up to fight and DIE for your country at 18 -- the most grave of all adult responsibilities -- then you should have the adult rights to smoke and drink anything you choose.

On the other hand, if you are FORBIDDEN to make such adult choices prior to age 21, then you should not be compelled to go fight and die for your country. Current U.S. policy has been schizophrenic in this regard, for decades and decades.

Bottom Line: the scientific evidence for the harm done by substances to developing brains is overwhelming. If you're under 18, really, stick to the books; that's your surest path to the liberty you seek.

So, when we talk about logical substance controls, we are talking about Adult Behaviors. There is no conceivable scenario in which I would support 14 year-olds getting baked instead of learning geometry.
